Cape, Refined

A Classic Cape, Warmed and Layered

1 of 3

This living room had strong architectural bones but lacked cohesion and warmth. We began with paint to create clarity and contrast. Walls were finished in Benjamin Moore Brandon Beige, while all trim — including the fireplace and built-ins — was painted Benjamin Moore Simply White, instantly brightening and defining the architecture.

To enhance scale and atmosphere, we added sconce lighting for warmth and dimension, silk curtains to soften the room and elevate the vertical lines and a large mirror above the fireplace to reflect light and expand the space.

Layering continued with a warm leather sofa, natural fiber rug, gray linen ottoman, soft throws and pillows and greenery.

A gallery wall of Olof Rudbeck bird prints climbs the stairwell, drawing the eye upward and adding quiet movement.

The result...

is grounded, inviting, and timeless — a Cape that feels elevated yet completely livable.
